Prensky brought forth the idea of a digital immigrant and a digital native. I feel like I fall somewhere in the middle. I am 27 years old and feel like I fall in between. I had my first "real" cellphone in high school. I feel like I am mostly fluent in technology and media, however my students are absolutely better than me at it. Maybe I would fall into a "dual citizenship" category. ???

Technology is such a broad concept with so many different tools available, I think it's okay to not be an expert in everything. The way I see it is that my job is to help students figure out the more academic side of things. How to use technology as a tool for their learning and so on. It's not necessarily my responsibility to help them with social media, beyond perhaps some guidance about its proper use. I do think that parents also need to be involved in this conversation if we are going to produce a well-rounded group of digital citizens!
